50 GMC front bumper switch

Hello everyone. Im needing some help. Looking for a front bumper switch for a 50 GMC. I want to get rid of the full height bumper. I would like to have one about ¾ of the total ht of stock, keep the same width, curve, and pull it up tight. Anyone got any recommendations as to what other make, model, and year front bumpers would be a good fit. I would like to avoid a cut and weld if at all possible. Thank you for the help.

Re: 50 GMC front bumper switch

I don't have my Crackerjacks decode ring on so I am trying to read between the lines here.

What I think I am reading is that you have a 50 GMC and would like to have a bumper that 3/4 the height of that. The best suggestion that I can come up with is see if you can find a local shop that can trim it down a bit on each side with a water jet cutter or a Plasma but the plasma will take far more cleanup after it is cut.

You might find a bumper off a 30's car that is the right width and close enough to the right curvature but most were a bit narrow for an AD

I've seen this truck at a local show every year that I have been up there and I think he used the bar out of a early 90's Silverado grill for the bumper but I can't say I'd call it a real bumper. This shot from 2016

This shot from 2014. And yes, at that event the guys tend to stake out the same spot every year and if mine had been there it would have been within three or four spaces of his where it was just about every year for 20 years.

77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

Re: 50 GMC front bumper switch

50 GMC bumper looks alot like the Chevy bumper according to Google....but I'll agree plasma or water jet will get you a 3/4 bumper....or if your adventurous..a cutoff disc on a grinder would do..but not as good..and be sure you wear ppe if you try it..
