59 APACHE 36 is it worth $650

Ok fellas I found this 59 Apache last week on the edge of a field where a barn use to stand. As I stopped to look at it a guy pulled up and just so happened to own it. Long story short it has no title and he wants 650 for it. Looked at it again today and it would need a lot of patch panel work which really isn't to bad but floors, door jams, lower fender work, cab corners. It was running when parked in 09'. what do you guys think should I buy it and try to work out the title deal?

I've heard Illinois is a nightmare on getting titles, but I'd probably buy it anyway at $650.

It is a night mare and the ****ty thing is that this guy bought it from a guy and used it on a farm only never titled it so id have to find out who he bought it from , hope they are alive, and hope I can get a signature. This guy is in his late 60's if not 70's so who knows if the previous owner is alive. That being said it would be project with a due date 14 years from now due to it being for my son who is turning 2 here soon so I would have time to acquire parts haha.

Re: 59 APACHE 36 is it worth $650

heck i paid twice that for my 51 with no title. what i ended up doing was i found a cab in wisconson with a title for $600 with a ton of extra parts and upon arrival i found that the parts cab was in way better shape then the one on the truck so that was my way of getting a title.

it must be a pain to get a title out here as a police officer has been going through the leg work of getting one for a old land rover that was abandoned at our shop like 7 years ago. been months and he still hasnt got anything. when i lived in indiana i just had a shop get a mechanics lien

doesnt seem like a bad price id probably buy it for the heck of it

I want to but I told him I wasn't into it for 650. I think I am going to shoot him 400 and see if he bites.

Is the name on the side the PO or the person you are buying it from? It would be good if it's the po.

The guy selling it doesn't even remember my name every time I talk to him. So I don't know who owned it last. I tried to research the name on the side but got nothing to come up.

Re: 59 APACHE 36 is it worth $650

I'd say there are 650 worth of parts there but I'd go back with the 650 and a trailer and hold out 5 100 dollar bills and tell him that is what you have to give that day cash green money.
If his wife is there make the offer in front of his wife if you can because all the sudden she will push him to sell it when she sees the cash most of the time.
Print yourself out a bill of sale before hand with blank spaces for him to sign and not that it had been on his property before he bought the property.

And who knows the title may be inside the truck tucked in the glove box or in the registration holder. But you are buying some decent parts to use to build a truck.

But as I said I see some pretty decent parts to put on a truck that does have a title unless you can figure out how to get a title.
