flip kit and shocks

I did a flipkit on my 85 swb c10. Left the stock shoks on it ad just added the shock extenders. Yesterday ii noticed both of the rear shocks were leaking. These are the origal shocks from 1985. I plan on replacing the shocks tommorow. But i dont know if if i should buy the original shocks for the truck or will i need shorter shocks. if i need shorter ones, does anybody have a part number or what vehicle year shocks did yall use?.

Re: flip kit and shocks

i was looking them up awhile back with a monroe catalog. you can download the catalog and it has a chart with all the dimensions and such for each shock. the only ones that i found that might work for me were for a toyota tundra, although damn near all the yota trucks from 88-up used the shock, and i could not find out if they were front or rear. i was going to go to PnP n try and find a set, just never got around to it. ive been running the originals on mine and its dying for and upgrade really soon.

Re: flip kit and shocks

With the extenders, you can run the original shocks.

Re: flip kit and shocks

yeah ive tried my fronts on the rear before and they rubbed the frame because they were so fat. i think i spaced them at the top a bit with washers. cant remember what i was running up front, but it was all cut coil too and slammed hard, at least 5" with cutoff bumpstops.

im trying to fin shorter fronts from somethin else for this truck now, havent come up with anyting that short yet. pretty much need a motorcycle coilover or somethin lol

Re: flip kit and shocks

Damn dude...OG 1985 shocks?! get in touch with summit racing, they'll hook you up.
Or just get the cheapest shocks you can find at autozone...they will fit with your extenders, and the difference will be like night and day.
