You running a T6 1.32? My swap is far from done but I bought the turbo long ago to keep me on track

Re: My 67 SWB BoostedC10 (LQ4 S475)

will more than likely run the 1.32. my truck will be a driver 95% of the time so i'm wanting lower full boost rpm and cant find anything definitive between that and the 1.10 for a daily driver with a 4l80e. lol

Wow, beautiful work. Your attention to detail is amazing. I look forward to watching this come together.

What are you running for an engine and trans controller? Are you using a megasquirt, reflashed stock ecu, or other?

What are your plans for the hot side of the turbo? Headers or flipped truck manifolds?

I am in the process of collecting all the parts for my turbo 5.3 ls swap. So I am trying to learn all I can before I get too far.

Matt

Thanks Matt I appreciate it.

For the hot side I am building headers for it since I need to clear the ac. I will probably run the Holley efi since it can do trans too even though I have 2 411 stock pcms and hptuners. Just like the Holley better because I am able to run the big injectors and it has meth and turbo provisions.

Re: My 67 SWB BoostedC10 (LQ4 S475)

I hope you take imitation aw a form of flattery, because I want to copy as much of your motor/turbo set up as possible!

What size fuel and return line are you going to run? Are you going to run stainless hard line or something else?

How about the down pipe after the turbo, what size/muffler are you using and where do you plan to route your exhaust. For ground clearance I am planning on going through the cross-member then out the side of the bed in front of the rear wheels. Is there any advantage of doing dual exhaust over single?

Thanks,

Matt

Matt I take it as flattery dont worry.

For the fuel system I am running an A1000 with a -10 feed and -8 return. I have short runs of Russel Pro-Classic line at the tank and up to the rail, the rest of the fuel system is aluminum line.

My plan for the exhaust is to actually go off the back of the turbo, over the frame rail in the engine compartment and run down the out side of the frame rail then out the front side of the bed.

Not sure on a muffler yet but I did like the sound of the 14 inch Magnaflow I had on my other turbo truck.

IMO running a dual exhaust on a single turbo is just a waste of tubing, as long as the down-pipe is sized properly.

Thanks for the info. What I have read about the down tube, bigger is better. This is obviously a tradeoff of packaging and power. How do you know what is big enough for the down pipe. I am planning on running a 76mm turbo, specifically the setup sloppy mechanic has on his site? https://sites.google.com/site/sloppywiki/home

I'm assuming you are running the On3 76mm with the .96 a/r exhaust housing Matt has used on quite a few builds.

If that is the case the general rule of thumb for the exhaust is 1.25 x turbine exducer. That turbo has a 65mm turbine exducer so 1.25 x 65 gives you an optimal exhaust size of 81.25mm (3.2 inches). This is just a little over 3" but not quite 3.5". If it was me I would run the 3.5 and call it a day.

Sorry for all the math but this question gets asked a lot and I figured I would share an easy way of figuring it out and make it useful for others.
