what headers?

what headers is the 73-87 guys running. i have some hooker headers on it now but they hang was too low. the truck is lowered 5/7 so im beating the hell out of the ones i have. and i still need long tubes and would like to get 1 3/4 primaries. i have 1 5/8 now. so i didnt know if a certain chevelle or nova or camaro long tube header would work to help with ground clearance...thanks

Re: what headers?

I bought some 2" x 1 7/8' step headers for a 71 nova and the could have fit if I went to tubular motor mount perches and cut away some of the passenger side frame then re enforced the cut out section.

I even got a hold of lemons headers and they don't make any thing. So the option is start cutting away or just run the 1 3/4" primary's.
There is a vendor on this sight that does fab a longish style bigger tube that tucks up in the frame rails. He does SBC or BBC.

Re: what headers?

Yeah I'm afraid for 1-7/8" your going to be fabing your own, And unless you have heads with the Stahl bolt patern you will need the adapter flanges. 1-7/8 is a big tube!

Here's the set of 1-7/8 long tube headers the local fabricator made for my 66.I started the project and promptly discovered, there is good reason they get the money they get to mke custom headers! WOW what a pain!

Getting them up high in the chassis, clearing everything,, takes an artist not just a guy with a welder (aka: me)

Re: what headers?

I just need 1 3/4. I was hoping I could use a off the shelf header for a 69 camaro or a nova or chevelle that will fit decent

Re: what headers?

I used Hooker Comps for a Chevelle, Part Number 2455, in my 68. These are for a BBC.
