Re: Post your set up

Welllllll How far back would you like to go

The ol 66 has been through a lot. Was a retired farm truck in need of ...... well everything!

Started with a Alston urethane bushed 4link backhalf, 350 with Edel RPM heads and 33x22.50-15 MT (hard as nails) Sportsmans

13.6ish @ like 85mph,, and 11.7something @ 114 on a 200 horse shot (blacktracking to the 660' cone)

Couple of iterations of street motors then .....

Next came a mild 383 with box stock AFR 210 heads, Crane hydraulic roller(236°/ 248° @ 0.050 .575 lift. RPM intake, 5.43 gear / locker in a 9", 33x22.50-15 Hooser QT Pro , TH350 I built and a 3500 stall converter

11.9 in good air, 12.3 @ 112 in normal Az heat.

Then street ceased to be anything more than a novelty. After some bad luck with blocks, carbs falling apart and going down the intake, plugged oil pickup, and generally stupidity... The backup motor for my Nova (the 666hp possessed POS!) and stuffed and Hughes TH400 at it, Midwest 4800 stall 10" converter, changed to a 4.30 gear, 33x14 Hoosier DOT slick,, (Dart LittleM 4.165" bore,, reworked Eagle 4" crank, 6" Oliver rods, JE 8cc domes, Crower 268° / 276° @ 0.050, .625 lift, AFR 220 heads, Crower 1.55 Shaft rockers, Holley ProRam, a pair of Proform 750 carbs), Custom 1-7/8 LOnnnng tube headers,

Through mufflers at the closing of Firebird event it with everything staying together finally.....it went 10.92 @ 119.4 right off the trailer,
Then
Round 1 of eliminations it went 10.80 @ 120.3
Then
2nd round it went 10.73 @ 121 and lost ,,, I think the pig has stayed together long enough this time the rings are finally starting to seat!!! Still drive it around on the street some, but fuel cost has gone up considerably since it was a mid 12 second truck. Street miles are rather limited now.

Hope to get back for the ADRA race in Tucson next month to see if the 666 saga continues. Tucson has always been good luck for me Only place I can say I won any serious $ LOL

I just did my taxes and reviewed my SS statement. Thanks to the current administration it looks like I will only have to work till noon on the day of my funeral.
