Grey Heater Wire

Was looking to make a connection between my amp and the ignition, when I spotted this loose connection. I found out that it is a heater wire. But where exactly does it connect to? I have a 68 C10 with no AC.
Thanks!

Re: Grey Heater Wire

Gray wires are usually dash light wires and the heater panel has a light, so check to see if it will plug into the panel to power the light. also if you have a volt meter you can connect between the wire terminal and ground and turn on the lights and check for 12 volts on the terminal. be sure the dimmer knob on the headlight switch is turned on full bright. Re: Grey Heater Wire

Thanks VV
I looked at the back of my heater panel, and all I saw was one connection that is already plugged in.

Is there another spot on the heater panel that has a connection that I am not aware of? I did notice that right behind the lettering on my heater panel there is a housing that has nothing inside of it.

Re: Grey Heater Wire

There is also a wire for the glove box but not all trucks had a light in the glove box. If it will reach that may be it. try the test with the headlight switch to see if it is powered by the headlight switch.
One of the guys should chime in that has changed the under dash harness with the information you're looking for > I will check my 67 today and see if I can find it.

The heater panel has the switch with the harness plugged into it and the light. I'll check my diagrams and see if I can find any other grey wires like that one.

Re: Grey Heater Wire

I forgot that the AC panel has two bulbs so the grey wire may be for the second one . I don't have AC either but I did a search and the power wire for the heater
panel and AC lights plugs into the fuse panel. If your heater panel light is working then you should have that wire and the one in question is probably for the other light.

See the diagram. Check the blue arrows.

Re: Grey Heater Wire

Yup, the wire is for the heater panel illumination. Thanks so much VV!

Now I have to get a harness, always wondered what that little empty box on the back of the heater panel was for. Lol
