Yes, all L6s were Chevy Engine Orange from '67 thru '72 (at least). For the '63 model year [first year for the L-22 series of L6s --194-230-250-292] the smaller engines were GM Blue and the 292 was Alpine Green. This was a carryover from the earlier L6 series 235-261s. They used the same block casting so they painted 235s blue and 261s green so they could tell at a glance what engine it was. I'm not sure how long this went on, but by '67 GM decided to use one color of paint on Chevy L6s and SBC V8s. [BBCs might have been a redder orange.] In the mid '70s, Chevy went back to blue, but a lighter shade on all engines.

Re: Hopping up a Chevy 250 6 cyl.

1966 was the first year for the 250 in the C10 pickups. It was a bluish green. After that it was orange.

Re: Hopping up a Chevy 250 6 cyl.

It's really taking shape now. Everything is mocked up and it's time to build the exhaust...

Re: Hopping up a Chevy 250 6 cyl.

[QUOTE=l1n1b1]Has anyone done this? What kind of cam did you use? What type head work? Intake & carbeuration? Headers?
....

Use a 194 cyl head to up the compression, 307 chevy forged pistons work well- clifford intake for high RPM, offenhauser intake for torque, around a 390 cfm 4 bbl will work good. split headers w/smaller pipes for performance.
