Re: Retro-Tech- 77

Ken, I love the truck and the upgrades with the exception of the bumper. I know you said you feel the headlights will tie the bumper into the equation, and I'll reserve my final judgment until I see a pic with both, but for now, I'm not feelin it. I understand the minor modern adjustments you're making to make the truck a little more pleasurable to drive, but to me, the bumper detracts from the "O.E." look of your truck too much. I think rechromed smooth bumpers minus the driving lights would fit the look of your truck a lot better IMO.

Love the rest though esp. the grille, the 73/74 looks right at home on your truck!

If you read my thread in detail you can answer that question. If you have an external release system now, you won't need the filler panel. If you have an internal release system you will need "everything" that pertains to an external release. That includes the filler panel AND the strike pin assembly from the hood.

I did the 73-74 grill update on my old 75 around jan time frame.... I just wish I was smart enough to make a tech thread about it... But everything is the same as yours just before they decided to remake them.

Unfortunately this project has been put on hold. My business and family have needed my attention so I have suspended my garage time for a while.

Is it possible to install the earlier style grill into an 80 model?

What all do you have to change out?

I saw some updates/repairs on the truck on Facebook. Anything else here about your progress on the changes?

Several things transpired since this project got started that put it in indefinite hibernation. Besides my family and me business needing more attention than my truck, my buddy Travis Noack left Street Trucks to pursue a career in commercial real-estate. Consequently the cover was put on the truck, and it was pushed to the back corner of my garage.

Recently my buddy Keith (n2billet) convinced me to bring it out of hibernation to attend a couple of shows with him. I agreed the time was right to get back on track.

I wont be doing all of the updates that I originally posted, but there will be some updates coming soon.

Nice to see that you are back on the upgrades to the truck. I was hoping to attend the Lone Star Throwdown and hang out with you guys, but it is just not going to work out this year for that show.
