Anyone take apart a seat belt buckle?

I am trying to save an old buckle, when I took it apart the bottom piece in the picture fell out and I didn't see where it came from. lol How is it positioned?

i just did mine. in the plastic cover there was a strip of metal down in the plastic but it stayed in for me. looks like that could be it but I am not 100% certain

heres a pic i took so i could remember how to get it back together. if no one else chimes in ill get a pic of a cover tomorrow with the metal in it..

Thanks! I think I got it, goes in the very front of the plastic cover.

Just thought of another question as I don't have a drivers side male seat belt at the moment, is the retractor seat belt assembly the same for both the right and left side for a truck?

No, they are right and left. The cover is angled at the base because the retractor mounting is to accomodate the angle of the floor
