Re: Restoration on the 72 has begun.. 11/25/08

got the new mirrors on finally.. didnt move the passenger side back a little bit so i cant see out of the passenger side.. oh well thats easy fix i just dont want to move it back and drill new holes yet until i go back to work on fixing the dents in the bed side and what not since i dont want an open hole to go down into my doors and rust out my new inner door skin so its good enough for me now since truck is actually street legal and we dont have to worry about cops and no mirrors no more..

Re: Restoration on the 72 has begun.. 11/25/08

i havent had the urge to go out there and mess with body for awhile.. its so hard to take a legal moving thing like this and make it non legal for a week or two and get it painted ya it will be sweet when its done.. ya know what i mean? i got my new bed floor taken off the used bed i got and it still needs blasted then i undercoat the bottom side of it.. then shoot some primer on the top so it wont rust by the time i put in on my sides.. and then fix a few hail dings on the sides and then sand her down.. im hopin to start doin that sometime next month.. and get it done by the time i start college back up i might do what your doing and wire up lights on the frame so i can still drive it legally when im doin the bed work.. still havent decided a color but the two tone white will still be there for sure

I'm glad to hear that you're thinking of painting it the original olive and white. It's a great looking color. Someday maybe our trucks can be twins.

Re: Restoration on the 72 has begun.. 11/25/08

well i decided its time to get back to work on the truck. havent worked on it since january.. im swapping to a different steel floor instead of fixing most of the crossmembers and about 5 holes in the floor.. found out it would be cheaper to get a different used floor thats all solid.. well heres some pics

Welcome back, Tim! Are you still driving it, or is the bed still in pieces?

Re: Restoration on the 72 has begun.. 11/25/08

Beds back together been back together.. Cab and front clip is still in primer. I got into the motorcycle world and bought a 06 Suzuki Gsxr 600. Then bought my girlfriend the same exact bike and built it up and now she has a nice bike to join me on events.. Then have a 66 mustang and a 67 mustang.. I built the engine in it and restored the interior by redoing the seats dash and what not.. Now I just need to buy my paint gun I like and paint.. I'm wanting to do that income tax season hopefully.. But ya I still drive it it runs like a champ but hardly has been driven since gas was close to $4 a gallon but now that it's 1.79 a gallon I've been driving it more. Hard to believe it's been 9 years since I started my build but ya I don't plan on ever selling... Had many ppl offer me some offers but of course they get turned down all the time
