I'm just getting into LA area (not lower Arkansaa). No Wi-Fi last night, so no pictures. My phone posted them side ways and I didn't want Boog to have to flip 'em

Those fires have completely incinerated most of the area to the west of me. We just got internet back about 3 hours ago. If you are already in LA, you have passed us by...

Did you already pass through the giant redwoods, Avenue of the Giants? Can't remember if that is part of the PCH, have never failed to feel awed going through there.

Too bad your trip timing coincided with these fires, here is Sacramento the smoke is terrible.

No kidding !
I think the smoke was really getting to him
When we visited
I thought he might be loosing it
We were looking over trucks
And
He kept bringing up a story about a
VW Bus he had seen
Along the way

Kinda like he was wishing that was what he was

Re: davischevy's not so epic road trip

Our son did live in Thousand Oaks ,,he told us the fire isnt close the the part he lived in ,,but hs friend had to evacuate and he is back in his home too, so it tells ya that Thousand Oaks covers a lot of ground ,, glad every one is okay.. Peppervine is right on the Ocean ,,been by there a few times.. Larry ,what route you taken home ? probably the lower route and not I-84 . I was going to mention if you come through Reno to Winnamucca ...you can come over the hills to where I live here in Nampa and stop in and rest a spell and hit I-84 to get home .. Arkies are welcome ..

Re: davischevy's not so epic road trip

Depending on when you reach the Malibu area, it may be chaos. Hopefully the fire will be out by then, but the Thomas fire made it for months. Gladstone's is probably not a good meet up place, as of right now. All those displaced people have to eat somewhere. Keep us apprised as you get closer and we'll weigh some options. I'd love to see a restaurant with a parking lot full of old trucks!

The picture taking was pretty much over by the time we got to Ft Bragg Steve. The smoke was terrible all down the coast. WE headed inland at Cambria.
