How important is Air Filter placement?
I am close to having to set up my air intake on my 6.0 swap and after looking at hundreds of pics, I just wanted to take a survey of sorts to see what ya'll think about having the tube and air filter under the hood with everything else vs. routing it through the radiator core support to pull cooler air front the front of the truck? Obviously it works both ways but if the advantages are negligible then I'm not sure that it's worth the extra work to route it through the support.

Re: How important is Air Filter placement?
cold air intake is definitely the better choice..I did my 81 under the hood...works just fine but the dyno guy told me cold air would be a big improvement...then he popped the hood open while doing a dyno pull to show me the difference. ..its been awhile but I think I remember about 15-16hp gain ...my AD LS3 is going to be cold air...

Re: How important is Air Filter placement?
Depends on the engine. You'll probably see some difference, but unless the game is tenths of a second or a few percent horsepower it may not be worth the trouble to get it out front.
