I'm anxious to read some of these tips myself because I will soon have to remove my tub also.
Thanks!

Well it's gonna be heavy but ........................................

If at all possible, leave the doors and top on, this will keep
everything in line, the windsheild frames and firewall on the
Blazers are alot more fragile than trucks and burbs, that is
why Blazers have rocker boxes to strenghen their bodys

do you think if I put some bars in between the door gaps Instead of keeping the doors on would be okay. I am just thinking it woub be lighter whithout the doors and tailgate??

Yes, use the top hinge position & the door striker plate position, measure
10 times, cut to fit once, and make them bolt in if possible, you never do
know when you may need them again, tailgate bar would also help, across
the top of the bed, to keep the sides from flexing out, if you do all of that
you might get away w/ leaving the top off, but I would still leave it on, a
Blazer windsheild / firewall section is the easiest thing that get tweeked

If you gut it, you and your friends should be able to lift it, no problem. I would leave the doors and top on if possible.

I gutted mine leaving the top attached and picked it up with straps and a 2 ton overhoist in my shop. I would post a pic of it hanging in mid air, but I can't find it right now.

I used a 2 post lift and some square tubing. IT was by far easier than manhandling it.

Re: how to remove 1969 blazer body of frame

My two cents worth. Take the top off way heavy.. C- clamp some 2x4s or angle iron at the rear and front of the bed. that will stabilize it and weigh a bunch less. I have pulled a couple using chain hoist just get it balanced.
and I would say you and at least three friends...or 6 depending on how strong you are...its pretty heavy lift.

I used a engine hoist in the back I bolt it down to where you bolt you rear seat. then used to large jack stand up front it was really easy. here are some pixs

What did you make up to brace the firewall?
Did you brace the doors before lifting and supporting on the jack stands?

All I can say is ouch! Was that an original 2wd? I will asume not since you are calling it a 69. What are you plans with it and what is the story behind it?

Re: how to remove 1969 blazer body of frame

what up kevin! well I bought a 1972 blazer about 1 1/2 yrs ago. The body in my opinion needed a lot of work. then couple of months later I happen to find this truck on craigslist. It's really clean it only has a little of surface rust. anyway the guy I bought it from, his son had just wrecked it. He ran into a police station i think he was going 35-45 mph. I guess his son blacked out. So, the frame and the complete front end was gone. I think the firewall got tweak cause the doors won't close. Well Since I had the 72 I decided to use the frame of the 72 and convert it to a 2 wd and swap the body. I am going to start converting the frame into 2 wd this week hopefully I will be done by thursday so I could send it to get blasted and powder coated. Does anybody have pix of a 2wd conversion? well thats it for now I will keep posting pix as I continue this dream of mine

Re: how to remove 1969 blazer body of frame

Wow I am confused or it might just be that it is 3:45am But lets see if I got this. You have a 72 blazer that you will use the frame from and convert it to 2wd. You then picked up a wrecked "truck" (blazer as well right or is it a truck?) and you will swap the body from that to the old blazer frame? Am I close or still sleepin? If it is a wrecked blazer than it was a 2wd to begin with or ? May be on my drive to work I will figure it out as I pass a few police stations while drinking gallons of coffie a few donuts and talking on the cell!

Re: how to remove 1969 blazer body of frame

yeah your right Iam going to use the 4x4 frame from a 1972 blazer and convert it to a 2 wd frame then iam going to put the wrecked 1969 blazer body on the 72 blazer frame. the 69 blazer was originally a 4x4 blazer it was convert it to a 2 wd then it got wrecked so now Iam going to convert another 4x4 frame into a 2wd the problem is I have never done this before I already got a crossmember of a 72 truck that I will be using. hope this clears things up and sorry for any confusion

Clear as mud at a bikini contest! What thru me off was you refered to the wrecked Blazer as a Truck. You have been around here that long or you would know that is a big no-no! LOL Installing the 2wd frnt cross member is not a big deal as a few of the boltd line right up and than you just drill out the rest of them. What are your plans for the rear? 4 link and bags, flipped leafs or?
