Yippee skippy !

I just returned from a bit of a vacation, The old 71 was hauling a trailer filled with quads (5,000 lbs total) over the Cascade Mountains between California & Oregon. For those of you who don't know, we are talking MOUNTAINS! Anyhow the new 383 performed flawlessly. When it did shift down to second she sped up, I had to let out of the trottle a little trying to be protective of not reving it up to much. If your thinking of upgrading from a worn 350, ....just do it.

While the motor did great, a bolt that was double nutted between the header collection and the exhaust pipe disappeared. One on the other side was on the way so the local hardware store saved me, I added a litttle lock tite tightenend back up and had no probem on the way home with that ugly sound of leaking exhaust.

Sorry for a such a long post but I was a bit excited, the efforts were worth it and the Cash was well spent .

Glad to hear you had a great trip. It's always nice to see these old trucks being used like trucks. Mines a daily driver, and has always been reliable. Look forward to some picks of the Mountains soon!

We went to the Oregon Dunes, started at North Bend at Horsefall for a few hours then stayed in Florence for the remainder and rode out of the day use area on the south jetty in the goose flat parking area. It was a blast and am looking forward to the next trip.

Jorgensensc...whew what a name, sorry but didn't take many pictures spent much of the time riding and making this old body sore.
