Cowl vent screen

Has anyone else modified their cowl vent to keep the trash out? I used a very fine stainless steel mesh screen JB Welded to the underside. Works and looks great!

Re: Cowl vent screen

I bought pre made metal screens that sandwich between the cowl and the outer cowl body piece. I got mine in black, but there is stainless available.

Yeah, I saw those. I got the stainless screen for a lot less and already had the JB Weld.
After I flushed out 50 years worth of crap trapped in the drains, I decided I never wanted to do that again.

Here's a good video on some inexpensive screens and how to clean the muck out of your cowl: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SFr7TsNVrvc&t=55s

Yeah, I seem to remember watching another video some time ago and that's when I cleaned mine out. It looked like this when I did it. I ran a water hose down mine. Didn't want to do that again.
