Your shots of heating the ball joints came in handy this past summer as well!
I had to heat one up to get that sucker out too.

Thanks again !!

Michael, Your dash looks great too!! Nice job!

Yea, those lower ball joints were a challenge. Once we got the first one out, the other was a piece of cake, sorta!!

Keep me posted on your updates!!

Re: My 61 FL Apache 10

Hey Chad.. Thanks for the compliments.. This has been one of my favorite vehicles so far..

I looked thru all my pics and only came up with this one.. My truck is at a friends shop and hope to have it back by the weekend.

In the pic, you can see the exhaust going around the oil and trans pan. They come together in the middle like an X pipe then turn out at almost 45*. After the turn out is the glass packs and the tips are attached. The pipe is 2.25 then there is a adapter that goes from 2.25 to 2.5. The tips are 2.5 in and 4" out and are about 20" long.. I love the way it sounds!! The glass packs are about 20-24".

When I get my truck back, I will take a bunch of pics of the pipes and post them for you.

With the bags in the rear, it rides like a Caddy!! I want to bag the front too at some point, just need to get some other things done first.

If you have any other questions, let me know.

Re: My 61 FL Apache 10

Is that a train whistle under the cab? I have an air horn mounted in the same place on the 64. Its pretty loud. Like the progress. Been following your thread as we have a 61 that we are re-doing. Getting some good ideas.

Glenn, yes it is. There is a larger one on the other side. They are attached to the frame. I can clear the road when needed

Re: My 61 FL Apache 10

Its been almost 3 years since I got this truck and I have been waiting all this time to get the parts changed and get this thing aligned!! It never kept me from driving, that's for sure.

The last to be changed today were all the tie rod ends, adjustment sleeves and idler arm. Once the mechanic got the parts replaced, he aligned it.

Here are pics from today.

On the alignment rack. Sorry for the poor pics.

This is back home in the driveway.

Re: My 61 FL Apache 10

Here is the best pic I have of the rear bags. I am mounting them directly to the frame on top and the trailing arm on the bottom.. Its just a little forward of where the coil spring was. I have the air line coming up right at the "fork" of the frame. I made two mounting holes on either side of that and one hole in the trailing arm.

Actually this pic was the mock up of where I wanted the bag.

This one shows the bags installed.

Re: My 61 FL Apache 10

I wanted to get them as close to the original location as possible with out a lot of work.. With them aired out, the frame touches the rear end housing and the bag still has room to collapse without damage.

They have been there for over 2 years with no issues.

If you want more close ups of how they are bolted in, I can do that over the weekend.

That would be awesome.. I really appreciate your help. I bought new lowered rear coils last year but wish I had just invested in the bags. Anything was better than the ruff riding, heated coils I had at the time though..

Re: My 61 FL Apache 10

Ok. Instead of making you wait till the weekend, I was just sitting around looking at my truck.. I got it up on ramps and took these pics.

Here is the bottom bolt.

Here are the upper bolts and air line.. As you can see, I didn't want to make a 3rd hole for the air line. I tucked it in as far as I could so the line is free.. Its would be easy to remove if the bag has issues.

Here is a full shot of the bag.

Here you can see how close to the original spring mount the bag is.

Hope that helps!!

If you need anything else, let me know.

Re: My 61 FL Apache 10

So what are using for air management? I noticed
the tank in the rear. I was considering using
Schrader valves for the time being. How did you
set yours up?

Re: My 61 FL Apache 10

Look back on page one number 16 of this thread and you will see the controls.

I did Schrader valves for the first month or so and I ended up buying these from a guy on here.

Re: My 61 FL Apache 10

Thanks!! I got my bags second hand and I don't what brand or size they are. They have held up fine with no issues. Don't go cheap on bags, get good ones. I would suggest 2500# for the rears and 2600# for the front.
