350 piston differences?

my 94 350 lost oil pressure so i tore it down for a quick bearing and pump job. all looked good except the fact that 3 pistons were cracked. i know quite a bit of history on the truck and got it after previous owner got it smoking hot when the plastic clip for the heater hose on the intake broke. bulls in the trailer were worth more then the truck and a nasty storm was rolling in so he ran 2-3 miles bone dry. heads were toast but block was still good. i got it and slapped heads on it and drove it for a few years mostly as a wood hauler. i assume the pistons were broke the whole time since the massive overheating. my question is can i put old style pistons and rings in it? the only difference i see is that the oil ring depth. price difference is incredible. planning on selling truck once fixed as i now have an 02 with a 6.0
