Fuel Sender question
I have a 1988 Pickup that my dad bought and it has aftermarket gauges in it.
I was wondering if a factory OEM sender is/will work with the Stewart Warner fuel gauge? These is the gauges that this truck has: http://www.stewartwarner.com/en-US/P...%E2%84%A2.aspx At one time the truck had a 6.2 liter diesel in it. It was converted to a 350 Gasoline carburated engine. The PO had installed the gauges in place of where the factory gauges would be. The other gauges work like the speedometer, volts, oil pressure and coolant temperature. |

Re: Fuel Sender question
It doesn't look like that is the range of resistance needed for the truck.
There are many sources that say your truck uses a sending unit that varies in resistance from 0 - 90Ω . The stewart warner you listed reads 33.5-240Ω While this is a popular resistance range for the industry. I don't think it will work. My estimation is it will read from 1/3 tank to full where it is full most of the time and when it's actually empty, it will read 1/3 tank. http://static.speedwaymotors.com/ima...ohms_chart.gif |
