the grill?

Does anyone happen to know if the 5 bar grills for the 1/2 3/4 &1 ton ad trucks are the same as the 1 1/2 & 2 ton ad trucks? I know fenders and hoods are different. Just need to know about the grill.thanks.

Re: the grill?

The bars will interchange but the grill it's self is taller.

Each bar in the grill only will go in it's particular spot though. If you need the next one to the bottom you have to find a good next to the bottom bar.

This is the back side of a big truck grill I have. you can see the notches that tell if the bars are for the second, third or fourth bar in the back side of the bar.

Re: the grill?

I've been told that the big truck bars are actually a bit thicker in vertical size. They will bolt right up to a smaller truck grille frame, as Mr48 says, but the gaps between the bars will be less than if you used the small truck bars. Just what I've been told - don't know for certain with my own experience. If that is true, it could be a neat look!

Re: the grill?

X2^ . As long as you use all the same bars (5) from a big truck it will work. Lot of chrome.

Once in a while you will see someone add a 6th bar which really makes a lot of chrome

Re: the grill?

Thanks guys,, I was looking at a 53 6400 firetruck but the bottom 3 grill bars has about a foot square hole cut in them where a pump used to sit..I didn't know if I could just use a grill from a small truck on it or would have to find one for the big truck..
