I hauled a longhorn (8.5') bed home from Mike C.'s place in November. Since I have a toolbox on my '92 LWB, I only had about 6' of bed left to work with. I just laid two 2x6 boards across the bed and set the bed upside down on mine. I strapped it down at each corner with ratchet straps (hooked into the holes in the stake pockets of the longhorn bed, and to the tie-downs of mine) and over the top (bottom?) across the wheel wells with a HD strap. It was more than enough, but as has been said, you can't have too much. Here's a pic:

Well that pic answers a question of mine...I have a longhorn bed in Western Michigan I need to get once my income tax $$ is in my hands, and it'll probably be in the GMC (SWB).
