no plans to stock floor it or traditional bd. i hope it lays frame in the rear and may lay crossmember in front. still have an inch or inch and a half in the front. not sure if im going to put drop spindles on it or mod the lca's a little. i kind of like riding aired out right now. but im sure i'll want to go lower after i get the bed on and valves installed.

ps. i wish i could take credit for the welds....lol
Ive always used the jack method on these truck. You won't have a problem. Just make sure your frame is on jack stands as high as you can safely go. A typical jack stand is fine. Ps, your truck is looking great.

ive done it on a 85 s10 blazer about 10 years ago. i attached a chain and lock around the springs and lca to make sure if something slipped i wouldnt be in the hospital. it felt like an unpredictable mouse trap to me. lol. due to the questions he was asking it seems like it is his first time lowering anything, i think he should use the safest method....especially on a burban....but you're right the jack method works too

huge difference of clearance now between the c notch and the step notch. the paint can is to give you an idea of the space now...we all know how tall they are....i still need to box the insides and clean up the sawall cuts where i chopped the old frame out....maybe this weekend or middle of next week

Yeah I've never bagged anything! But I think after all the tips you've given me, I got this! Lol...I just needed some insider tips.
Notches look good! My spindles should be here today and I'm gonna start my build this weekend! It supposed to be pretty cold here in Arlington though, it's gonna be a cold garage! I'll keep you posted!

Re: 86 squarebody made2drag

made some lowering blocks. i made one side longer to help flatten out the leaf spring on the shackle's side. and after i get tired of leaf springs...if i do that is...i can weld these to some 2x2 bar and mount the other ends to the front leaf spring hangers and add some bag mounts.

i would be like the 2 link ekstensive makes...in the end i'll likely have basically the same thing.

Re: 86 squarebody made2drag

the round edges on the 2x3 and the flip edges were fun to weld! not the greatest but i dont think i'll have to worry about them coming apart....i filled a rather large gap.

Re: 86 squarebody made2drag

have both sides done now and had to notch out the crossmember. i used a piece of 2x3. i will have to notch a little out of the crossmember that is attached under the bed. no big deal though because that crossmember is around 4 inches tall. next up is to figure out shock mounting and putting in a 2 x 4 cross brace and bag mounts...i would like to also do the hidden hitch so when i get the sport bumper i can flip my tag down and hook up. i only need to use a trailer every couple of years or so...may or may not do that since its not really a priority

Re: 86 squarebody made2drag

You can take a regular Reese hitch an make it into a hidden hitch fairly easily. I'm going to be doing one for my buddies suburban soon so I'll post pictures of the process.

Trucks looking good by the way.
