And here it is after all the tape is removed. There's a few flaws in it, but anyone who's ever painted anything knows it's not perfect. I'll fix them later. I'm happy with how it turned out.

I took the bed off and put it in the garage so i could do a little bodywork on it and paint it to match the cab. I was racking my brain on a paint design to match the cab, possibly reversed scallops. But with the bigger tail lights, i couldn't find a way to make it work. So i kept it simple and left the ball edge of the sides and the whole tailgate and roll pan black.

I have to finish painting the back of the bed, but i have to wait until i mount the bed back on the frame to get to it.

I put the bed back on and finished the tailgate and roll pan. I installed one tail light before the sun went down. I'm very happy with how everything turned out. I'm anxious to drive it again, but I'll do my best not to rush it.

I finished buttoning up the bed. Double checked everything i could think of.

I bought a roll pan, but i want to put fog lights in it, so i blacked out the front bumper and installed it for now.

I filled the fuel tank with fresh gas and checked for leaks. I had to wait for the sun to go down to adjust the new headlights.

After getting fuel, i test drive it to the auto parts store and around the block. I need to get weather stripping for the doors. They rattle like crazy! Otherwise, I'm happy with the outcome.

Just some progress pics on the fog light install on the front roll pan. I'm using4 inch exhaust pipe scraps from my dad's 59 Chevy pick up exhaust.

After getting the mount holes centered and welded, i cut a thick fender washer into 4 pieces to make mount tabs for the fog light. I drilled pilot holes and used self tapping screws to fasten the lights.

I'm pretty traditional when it comes to these trucks. I could never do to mine what you've done to Cap. But, man, you've got that thing looking good. It's been awesome to see all the different stages of the build and to see you work through all the issues you've faced. Great build!

Yes, I'm removing the front bumper. The turn signals will go back in the grill.

The red Buick is a 67 LeSabre convertible I'm working on for a guy in the neighbourhood. He needed freeze plugs replaced and done other nickel and dime repairs, and every shop he brought it to jerked him around for months and just took his money.

I included a screen shot of the fog lights from ebay. The halos are REALLY bright. The led bulbs are bright as well. I'm going to use the halos as running lights and hook the fog lights up to my high beams.

Love the new 4-door, btw.

I finished installing the roll pan and fog lights. I had to remove the grill and bolt the roll pan to it as one assembly. I deleted the gravel pan and cut the front of the frame horns off to make everything fit.

I decided to run the fog lights with the low beams instead of the high beams like i had mentioned previously. It didn't have the right look with the high beams.

The big down side, totally unrelated to the recent mods, is that i noticed i have a pretty significant oil leak at the back of the Oil pan. It's either the oil pan gasket or the rear main seal. Regardless, i have to pull the engine back out to fix it.

Most all of the older LS engine have this issue. The rear main and the gasket on pan that holds it harden and leak. The replacement rear mains lip is different and seems to go in backwards but it is labeled outside. Careful alignment is important or you will have another leak. They make an alignment kit that is pretty cheap to make it fool proof.

I can't believe it's been 7 years since i started building this truck. The front shocks were feeling soft, so i upgraded to KYB gas-a-just shocks. Living close to the Summit Racing store, I save money on shipping. I got both front shocks for $75.00. Man! What a difference. I also noticed the sway bar bushings were mangled and the bolts were bent. So i upgraded to the polyurethane bushings and put in bigger bolts.

Well i pulled the engine out today. Turns out it was the rear main seal leaking. I'm going to replace the oil pan gasket, pick up tube o-ring, valve cover gaskets, knock sensors and valley pan gaskets and intake gaskets while it's out. Dad and I have been looking at camshafts, thinking about a mild upgrade while we're resealing everything else.

Well, i replaced every seal and gasket on the engine top to bottom, front to back, except the head gaskets. During my first real tat drive, the steering was binding. I double checked the power steering fluid level and it was fine. Well later on i was driving to get food and i smelled burning plastic. I pulled over and there was a piece of wire loom laying on the header. Upon further inspection, there was no wire in the loom. The writing for the fuel level gauge and the evap sensors wss wrapped around the steering shaft like spaghetti on a fork. So now i have to pull the driver's side inner front fender and run new wires there.

Today, while driving home from work, i smelled burning oil and when i got home i looked under the truck. Sure enough, the rear main seal is leaking. I think it's leaking worse than before. I'm so pissed right now, i was to part it out. I know I'm just being dramatic right now, but what a total pain i the ass!
