I would love to have a Ramjet 350, but a lack of $$$$ seems to weigh in on the project. I'm gonna go with a Goodwrench 350, cam it up a "little" and go with a new tranny, like a 700R4. I know the basics of Rat Rods is minimalistic, but I want the look. When I started this thread, I had no idea there was this much interest in Rat Rods, or the look that they have. It lets me know that now is the time to do it.

I'd love to have a "Real" rat rod, like one a buddy has. He built a black-primered '32 Ford Cabriolet, on deuce rails, with a 283 mated to a '39 Ford transmission. It is running a banjo rear end and has juice brakes all the way around. The windshield posts are from a Plymouth Cabriolet and were available. The dash has old S-W gauges in it. The seat is the back seat from a Mustang II. It works, but it ain't the most comfortable thing. With a set of Rams horn manifolds, three deuces and Smitty's, it sounds right. It also has a set of Kelsey Hayes bent spoke wires and white walls. He built it about 13 years ago, like I said, from left-overs.

With that said, I know the look I want never was what we did with anything as new as our trucks are (67-72). I think it is nice that we can do that, now. 30 years ago, we'd have been laughed at. It don't bother me none.

Go for what you like...and do it.

my first car was a 72 nova, straight 6 and powerglide. we primered it gray, split the manifold and ran a "home made" dual exhaust. it was loud. i put honda bucket seats in it, and had quick release pins in the passenger side. the seats were covered with 20$ seat covers from checker. i put a floor shift in it(the cheap linkage one) and a tempest console. it would run a 5.0 until you shifted(about 60 mph if i was racing) then it lost all ass. old camaro ralleys and recap tired. it was badass.

Count me in! Now I have a name for the look I have always loved. Even my model cars never got a coat of pain, only black primer.
