67 build turns into a 71 named 10SC

Well, i started out to build a 67 suburban but fate had other plans in mind, mainly the destruction of my 67 by a careless driver on Halloween morning. My vehicle was parked in my driveway when it was hit by a girl that was most likely distracted and lost control of her vehicle. So here is the start of where my new build is so far.

Re: 67 build turns into a 71 named 10SC

As it sits right now I have both engines and transmissions pulled, the wiring mostly removed from the 67, the front suspension mostly removed from the 71, the interior gutted from the 71, and part of the fuel system removed from the 67. I am having a 383 built right now and will be selling both of my current small blocks and one th350. I still have door handles, a rear view mirror, the fuel tank and lines and the rear wire harness to remove from the 67. I have mew tubular upper and lower control arms with 2" drop spindles, wilwood calipers, drilled and slotted rotors, shock relocation brackets, 1.25" swaybar and new motor mounts for the front end. I will be purchasing the tubular rear trailing arms, an adjustable panhard bar and shock relocation brackets for the rear as well. I already have a new gauge cluster, bezel, steering wheel, carpet kit and interior from a late 70's suburban to take care of the inside. I would like to do an air ride set-up if anyone has suggestions that won't throw is project too far into the financial deep end.

She must have been REALLY distracted if she hit it sitting in your driveway. Glad to see you are making progress on it. Keep us posted on the updates.

Here are some of the goodies going onto the new engine that is being built for this build. It is going to be a 383 stroker with a solid tappet cam, vortec heads and matching intake, running all MSD ignition components controlled by the ECM on the FiTech throttle body injection with shorty headers for clearance and 2.5" exhaust running through magnaflows.

Here are some of the other goodies waiting to go on this burb. Tubular control arms, 2" drop spindles with new rotors and wilwood calipers and a new dakota digital gauge set-up.

Re: 67 build turns into a 71 named 10SC

Well i got the fuel system out of my 67 today, I also pulled the exhaust and driveshaft. I am getting ready to pull the body on the 71 but need a hand so I decided to work on an fender emblem design for the burb. What do you guys think?

Re: 67 build turns into a 71 named 10SC

I got some more parts pulled of my 67, the door glass, the glove box, ash tray, old gauge cluster, the rest of the wiring, the door handles. Also pulled the fuel tank and my stainless braided teflon lines, fittings and fuel pump. Parts are piling up faster than I know where to put them in my garage. Hopefully I can separate the body from the frame on the 71 and start getting the frame cleaned up and put back together with the new suspension.

It actually has a triple meaning. I have a friend that owns a guitar company and he is building me another guitar right now, his company is Tennessee Electric Co Guitars so the 10SC when read together sounds like Tennessee so we named the guitar as such. It also stands for 10(Tennessee) S(Sinette) C(Custom) because it is a joint design between him and I based off of another guitar that he built me 8yrs ago that was completely my design prior to him starting his company. The last meaning of the badge is 10(C-10) S(Sinette) C(Custom), both the burb and guitar will have the same paint/trim colors and when done will be shown together.

Good deal! Can't wait to see them together.

Re: 67 build turns into a 71 named 10SC

Got some work done on the frame. I cleaned the frame and repainted it with satin black. I did the heavy duty C-notch from POL. I mounted the adjustable trailing arm mounts also from POL. My engine showed up today as well so I started figuring out spark plug wire routing/ lengths.

Yeah, I am under the gun. I got a notice from the city that says that inoperable vehicles can not be in public sight so I have to at least make it seem operable and get rid of the damaged 67.

Re: 67 build turns into a 71 named 10SC

A little more progress today with the help of my dad. We got the frame back under the body with new energy suspension polyurethane bushings. Got the front upper and lower arms on as well as the spindles and brakes. Installed the tubular engine mounts as well to get rid of the annoying stock mounts.

Engine is in today. Mating the trans fought me quite a bit.

Re: 67 build turns into a 71 named 10SC

I hear ya about the stock mounts. Every time i pull a motor in one of these i say im gonna upgrade to the saddle style of mount. I never do though. Seems like i am always under the gun to get the motor back in and dont make the time. Ironicly I have two sets of 80's frame mounts in my parts stash. Lol

Re: 67 build turns into a 71 named 10SC

Been making some more progress. All the rim holes and sidemarker lights are welded up. Wheels and tires are on. Started wiring the dash. Removed the steering column and replaced it with the tilt column from the 67. I also painted the interior. Going to finish up the rust repairs tomorrow and start prepping the outside for paint. The wheels are 18x8 front and 18x9.5 rear with 235/60/18 and 285/55/18 tires.

Wheel and tires look good. They really fill the wheel openings.

Re: 67 build turns into a 71 named 10SC

It has been a little while since my last post but it doesn't seem like i have gotten much done. The inner and outer rockers were replaced on both sides as well as the front lower pillars. I reworked the fuel lines and started cleaning up the engine bay wire harness. I finished making the spark plug wires. Lastly i installed a new power steering pump with lines and billet specialties serpentine conversion brackets and pulleys.
