2918 Concors De Maryhill - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

We took off a bit late and headed to the Maryhill Museum at Maryhill Wa above the Columbia river for the Concours De Maryhill. While it does attract some really interesting classics the event is an open car show where you can enter just about anything if you have the entry fee.

Highlight of the day was seeing our own Hogfarm and his truck again and getting in some visiting time.

By the way Rich the name I was looking for on those radius rods on the rat rod next to your truck was "hairpin radius rods" My hurting foot must have affected my brain too. plantar fasciitis isn't fun when you are trying to walk around a car show.

The red stepside was the only other GM truck in the event, Rich had driven down in the rain from his home this morning and the rain kept a lot of vehicles at home in the garage. I met a Mustang club with late model Mustangs on the pass on the way down but don't know if they were at the show or not.

As the pickings were slim here are the three blue oval trucks that were there.

The white one I couldn't get a good shot of because the people belongs to one of Hogfarms friends and sits on a complete Crown Vic chassis. Rich helped him wire up the engine's electronics.

The other two are just well done trucks that looked great sitting out on he lawn.

Just for fun, For the guys trying to figure out if an LS will fit your truck how would you like to be the guy who stuffed this dual overhead Vauxhall engine in a Mini? That thing has some real bark to it too.

The little supercharged 4 banger flathead is in a 1923 Amilicar. The whole car was exceptionally well detailed and has been a vintage race car for years first on the east coast. The hood ornament on the Amilicar had it's own story. The previous owner made a trip to France where he purchased the ornament for 3500 a few years ago. The cars are racing today in the Maryhill Hill climb an annual event that a vintage race car club puts on. The race cars drive up from the pits for the race that is held on a hill that was the first stretch of paved highway in the state of Washington and was the main highway for years. It is closed except for a couple of events every year.

The black 61 Corvette has participated in the hill climb every year and is a full on 100 % road race and hill climb car with no street driving provisions and one nasty sounding small block that really barks.

Fixed it, I was more than a little bit tired when I got home last night. I hope I am not one of those old farts that needs an electric scooter to get around car shows but would have welcomed one yesterday.

Very cool pictures. The Amilicar would have my attention for a loong time. That is just a wild little ride to see out driving and then racing.

I like the DOHC Mini swap. The C20XE was rated for about 150 hp at 6,000 rpm but it doesn't take much to get 200 hp out of them. That car must be a rocket.

Interesting to note is that the "Vauxhall" engine is available domestically in a few forms. A SOHC N/A version was found in GM J cars in the '80s and '90s in 1.8l and 2.0l sizes. It was also available as a turbocharged version. Strangely enough it was known as the "Brazilian" engine due to country of manufacture even though it was Opel designed. At the same time a SOHC version of the engine was sold here in the 89-93 Pontiac Lemans, which was really a rebadged Daewoo. After the SOHC engine, a DOHC version was available in Daewoo models in 1.6L, 1.8l, and 2.2L displacements. A 2.2L DOHC version was also available in the Isuzu Hombre in RWD configuration. Interestingly, the Daewoo engines have "GM Canada" cast in the block and the OBDII electronics included are all GM (except for the ignition system which is a Bosch style DIS). Look up GM Family II engine if you are ever curious.

You just saved me doing a search on it, thanks. I've seen the car about every year I have been down to the show and it just flat sounds mean. Pretty much like a hot super bike.

I've had that before - it's a weird condition that can come and go for no apparent reason. I took some solace in the fact that I shared the malady with many top professional athletes.

That Amilicar has quite the rudimentary blower drive!

I enjoyed the visit and got a big kick out of your granddaughter, thought she was going to slug your buddy though. She was getting that serous "don't bad mouth grandpa's truck" look.

I like the variety, atmosphere and location for that event Plus you always get to see cars that you will never see any place else all year long.
