Firewall fusebox seal

I have searched, a lot, on here and via google and still cant find this. I hate posting a thread for a simple question but I really cant find the answer.

I'm replacing my under hood wire harnesses and I got the new foam seal for the bulkhead connections. My old seal was smashed flat and barely there. My question is, does the seal go on the engine bay side where you connect the new harnesses to the firewall junction, or does it go inside the cab between the mounted connectors and the firewall?
