Getting the truck clear coated. The bed is done and the body is getting the paint blended in areas and cleared. Will be done tomorrow!

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10

It looks so good with the clear coat on it! Pics almost don't do it justice. I Started bleeding brakes today also. I have several leaks because I did not flare my ends properly. Now I have to go back and fix my F@#k ups. Frustrating but that is the way it goes when your learning.

That does look fantastic. I made those brake line errors and quit trying to make my own and started buying complete kits from inlinetube.com for what I think is a very reasonable price and a heck of a lot less of a headache.

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10

I have been able to work on the truck only a couple times a week over the last few weeks. I have the wiring harness in and about 90% installed. I am itching to get the Dakota Digital gauge cluster for the upgrade. They are just so damn expensive! I was able to snap a few shots. I always forget to take photos.

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10

I fired the truck today after several months of being down. Fired right up with a few little leaks here and there that were easily fixed with some tightening. The bed will go back on after a brake bleed. I decided to get the Dakota Digital dash and boy am I glad I did.. I did however have to get a new bezel too. Ill put picks up when complete. My sound deadening and carpet should arrive monday or tuesday. Should be driving soon.

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10

What a whirlwind last 3 days it has been working on this truck. I had an electrical issue with the headlights and blinkers. I could not figure it out for the longest time. Brand new Painless wiring harness. I thought it was the dimmer switch, so I went out and bought a new one. That wasn't it. I chased all wires inside and out plus grounds. Everything was in the right place and grounded. Finally I found the problem. It was a factory error from Painless with the harness. They had 2 wires switched in the wrong slots! Fixed that and everything worked perfect. I wonder if that is a common problem with them? I was also able to finish the sound deadening and instal the carpet. My bed was 1/4" too high installed, so I had to cut and weld the mounts. That was a pain in the ass! Bed is perfect now. You can see that it was high in the above pics. I will get some updated pics soon. The Dakota dash is all installed too. If you have the extra money to plink down on one of these, they are worth it. Easy to install and look nice.

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10

I was able to spend a few hours on the truck yesterday. I managed to get the seat put in and I had to notch the upper a-arm and steering shaft due to contact when aired out. It was causing a leak in the power steering. I need to take the truck over and get the mufflers and exhaust put on. Should be drivable after that. After that it will be a few odds and ends that need to be done such as: rear wheel tubs cut down and installed, custom console built, radio and speakers, and a vintage air installed some time before next summer.

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10

So it has been a while since I have posted. There is a reason for that. I hadn't done sh#t to the truck for a couple months. I needed a break and had some other stuff I needed to take care of. Today I blew off some of the dust and got to work on some things. The truck needed a new carburetor so I picked up a new "Quick Fuel"carb and put it on. The old scripts covers are cool looking but kinda a pain in the ass so I ditched them for some Billet Specialties tall script covers. It will be an easier process when I change my oil now. I also got rid of the old throttle linkage and put in a new heim joint one that looks slick. I also had to run a vacuum line to the transmission today. I just need to fire it up and bring it in for a exhaust job and it will be drivable.

Everything looks great! Should you decide to sell the air cleaner and the white valve covers, let me know. I'm going the opposite way, white truck w/ black roof. Thanks

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10

Truck is driving and registered through the DMV. I was able to take it to the gas pump today and top her off. I am however having a brake booster problem. I don't think my motor produces enough vacuum to operate it. I will hopefully figure that out tomorrow. All I need now is an alignment, radio and speakers, and finish the rear wheel wells.
