Post Thick or thin oil in a rebuild with 500 miles on it?

I just found out my mechanic put 20/50 in it, I told him it was too thick and that might be part of the reason I've been having oil pressure problems, should I take it out and put 10/30 in, what do you guys think?

Is your oil pressure too high?

It's pretty much normal around town but if I floor it hard or really gun it on the highway it goes to almost to zero but it always jumps right back up.

I run a big pump on the longhorn(72psi @2500). I have a stock 1 ton truck pan(6Q pan),& run 20/50 penz. I dont have any trouble with sucking the pan dry,but dont romp it till the oil is completely warmed up. You might try a little thinner oil,but it sounds like the pan isnt big enough for the oil pump. Do you have the # on the pump by chance?

At this point will it hurt the engine to remove the 20/50 and put in 10/30?
