Fuel tank with receiver hitch

Ive been searching the forum and have not found an answer. i am going to relocate the fuel tank but have not seen it done with a receiver hitch mounted to the frame rails. what tank will work for me? i like boyde tanks, but not the price. going efi in the future so that is a needed feature to the tank if possible. i can work around it though if not available. whats my options?

Re: Fuel tank with receiver hitch

If you do not already have the hitch installed get one of thses hitches then you can use any tank you want.

Re: Fuel tank with receiver hitch

Any real Reese hitch with work with an inframe tank. I have a 31 gal blazer tank from the late 70s along with the reese hitch that came off the donor truck on my 72. As long as the tank fits between the rails the hitch will clear. Worst case is you may have to slightly clearance the mounting ears with a grinder. Only issue I had was my bent step bumper interfers with the slider. I need to bend it back or space the hitch down an 1/8".

Re: Fuel tank with receiver hitch

72 Kool, Im looking to do the same. Currently installing the 17 gallon blazer tank kit from Truck shop in Orange. $189. The tricky part was removing the monster of a tow hitch the dealer installed back in the day. After reading here and etrailef I ordered draw tite 71540 and looks like it will take a bit of fabrication to make it work. Challenge is the flange furthest back shares a similar hole location with the tank. I will soon share some pics but will look to a friends shop for assistance on a lift. The draw tite was $113 on Amazon and was purchased after not finding exact answers on my 3/4 ton with step bumper which gave me 7-8 inches from bottom of frame to top of hitch. Hoping for a win win but will report back. Class 3 and I need to tow my boat. Its been a challenge but hope the fabrication is minor. Will post soon. Good luck and please share your final setup.
Thanks

Re: Fuel tank with receiver hitch

I put the LMC side fill tank in my 67 K10, no problems with the hitch.
