Gap Between Running Board and Cab

I have a 53 3100 on an S10 chassis. The running board brackets are custom made by the previous owner. Can someone tell me what the gap between the top of the running board and the bottom of the cab should be (looks like it is about 1" currently).

Also, what how big should the gap be between the front of the running board and the bottom rear portion of the front fender?

If the gap is straight and even and the boards line up with the bottoms of the fenders right life is good.
Stand back about 30 ft and if everything looks right you are good (help from a rater critical buddy comes into pay here too) If it doesn't look right figure out how to correct it. The running board door sill, bottom of the door and top of the bed rails should all be on the same exact plane. = parallel lines. Nothing looks worse to me than this fad that seems to go with S-10 swaps that has the bed rail drooping down towards the rear in a misguided attempt to make the rear lower and ends up drooping like a diaper full of poo.

Thank you MR48Chev. We definitely paid attention to getting top of bed rail, running boards and bottom of cab parallel. Plus we put some rake in the bed rails to match the line of the running boards. Running boards are lined up with the bottom of the front and rear fenders, so sounds like we are good to go.

I just measured mine and it's 7/8". I'm sure these vary from truck to truck. I think it's more important that they're parallel, plus there's a seal to help hide the gap.

Thank you. I am still learning about the many seals and gaskets on these trucks.

As Jweb said, they are to hid the gap but are one of those minor details that make for a better truck in the end.
