So how do I remove these? They don’t seem to want to hammer out

Re: How to remove this bushing
You must have heat! I used a little propane burner from wally world like a plumber uses an it worked just great. No heat, no move bushing!

Re: How to remove this bushing
If you have room to stick a hacksaw blade through it and assemble the hacksaw with the blade in upside down so you are cutting on the bottom side of the bushing. do that and saw though just the bushing. Then with the tension relieved you can knock it out. I've been doing them that way for a few years rather than fight with them.
There are bushing drivers (or if you have access to a lathe you can make one) that you dive the old bushing out with and the new one in with.

Re: How to remove this bushing
on the truck:
thick washer same size or a little smaller than new bushing O/D that a piece of large threaded rod will fit through threaded rod that is a little smaller than the I/D of the bushing so it will slide through socket or other hollow device that is larger diameter than the O/D of the bushing set it up so the threaded rod pulls the bushing through the hanger into the socket or hollow device. some heat may be required clean the hanger will and possibly run a brake cyl hone or equivalent through to remove any burrs etc press in the new bushing using the same theory but use the thick washers on both ends. use some antiseize or equivalent to lube the bushing and hanger as the bushing is pressed in to avoid galling. sometimes a frozen bushing and a slightly heated hanger will allow the new bushing to push in fairly easily off the truck air hammer with a chisel to cut a groove of material out of the bushing so it will be easier to pull out of the hanger off the truck set up in press and press the thing out or have it done at a machine shop so they can also press the new one in. whaddya mean, never mind...? done already? frame swap easier? lol. |

Re: How to remove this bushing
Dsraven's method works great too. Real simple with stuff you probably have around the shop now.
If you did like he suggested and used a bolt that wasn't threaded all the way you can remove the nut and stack washers or use another spacer to have more threads to use until you get the bushing in or out.
