Cab construction - What are these?

I am in the midst of surgery with my 68 C10.

Noticed these on another guys post. What are these metal pieces for?

1st pic: fuel tank mounts, done away with in later models.

2nd pic: you can buy ears to reinforce the mounts, breaking is common.

Thanks man.

Mine is actually rusted out and I didn't know what to search. I ordered some replacement panels at the local parts joint.

$9.95 each, just isn't worth making it from scratch!

yep, your idea is better, replace the entire lower pillar.
