Questions about stock wheels?

I purchased a 1969 SWB back in the fall and have been on this forum since. With the purchase the PO included a set of (5) six lug steel wheels (look to be 5.5-6" wide) and the center caps. From looking at other threads am I correct in assuming there were a variety of caps from painted to polished? The ones that came with the truck, which is a base C 10, are painted white with some black and a blue chevy logo. I would appreciate and info. Thanks

Re: Questions about stock wheels?

Sounds you were given the original rims and hubcaps from the truck. What is on your truck now.? Pictures are always welcomed here.

The truck has some rally wheels that were on it when I took possession. Not too sure how to post pics.

Re: Questions about stock wheels?

Here are the available caps (and wheel cover, in the case of the upper center PO1), courtesy of Classic Bowties. Since you have swb, it would be one of the lower row or upper row center. Upper row center is the PO1 wheel cover, lower left is the PO3. Lower middle/right are stock caps, not called out on the SPID. Upper left and upper right are 3/4 ton PO3 and base model, respectively. Notice the "outie" vs "innie" center. 73-75 similar to these PO3s but had a yellow bow tie, were aluminum, not chrome, and most had "innies" (all 1/2 ton were innies). Some 73-75 3/4 tone PO3s were outies. Hope this helps.Btw, to your question: lower right for base 69 swb, unless original buyer ordered above base caps, and if he did, you'd see PO3 or PO1 on the SPID.

Re: Questions about stock wheels?

Thanks. The ones I received with the truck are like the ones on the right, just not as clean.

Re: Questions about stock wheels?

I like it with the Rally's. What size rubber is on it? I just got some 15x8 Rally wheels for my '67.

Re: Questions about stock wheels?

Right now it has 275/60/R15. They are too wide as they rub the frame if you crank the wheel all the way. I don't mind the look of the rally wheels for now but I really like the stock look which is why I really wanted the steel wheel set from the PO.

Re: Questions about stock wheels?

Nice truck you found. Looks pretty unmolested. These are called hubcaps. Center caps are what go with styled or custom wheels, such as rallyes. There were three choices for '70 C/10s. The standard hubcaps was the white for all but the CST. Those came with chrome hubcaps, which were also optional for C/10 base model as well as Custom. Wheel covers were the third choice and an option for all three levels. Look on you SPID, if those are what the truck came with, you won't see anything shown as an option

Re: Questions about stock wheels?

Yes the truck is very unmolested. It came in a partial trade for a 2nd gen camaro I was selling. It is a 60,000 mile truck w original 307 and 3OTT...plan on keeping it that way. So far have replaced springs, gas tank and fuel lines, radiator, redid the brakes and lines, steering and all of the front end. These items were shot after all these years. Now I hope to just drive it and enjoy.
