Bumper Guard does not fit

This bumper guard does not seem to fit. Do I have the wrong guard or the wrong bumper or the wrong installer?

Re: Bumper Guard does not fit

Well that looks like it is supposed to. I'm not 100% sure if the problem is with the bumper or with the guard, but I'm going to guess you have an original bumper and I have an after market one. I got it from bumper boyz, I would have thought it would be right. Looks like I need to get an original bumper if I want to make this work.

Re: Bumper Guard does not fit

Well I went ahead and tightened it down and it looks better - still not as good as yours, but I'm OK with this. I had to just barely get the nuts started on top and bottom and then alternate tightening them. Thanks!

Re: Bumper Guard does not fit

Yes mine is original but you always have a chance of fit problems with anything mass produced. These fit better than an Nos set I had.

Re: Bumper Guard does not fit

Those were the type used on the 68-70 trucks.

Re: Bumper Guard does not fit

I'm talking about bumper not guards being orig. Small ones 67-70 and taller with rubber strips 71-2. I was just using closest truck to show fit and to show that the short guards will work on 67-72 like someone asked on parts board.

Re: Bumper Guard does not fit

I did not realize the short ones were not correct for 72. The box they came in said 67 - 72. I like the looks of the short ones better. I'm going to keep them even if they are not original for 72.

Re: Bumper Guard does not fit

Lots of things get lumped into the 67-72 category these days when it comes to vendors. It will "fit" 67-72, but the 71/72s were taller with rubber strips as pointed out above.

Re: Bumper Guard does not fit

My experience with using the 67-70 guards on 71/72 Chevy bumpers is they need to be made to fit a little. It might be due to the 67-70s being designed to be mounted outward from the frame while 71/72s were designed to mount at the frame/bumper mount. Jerry Brown @ The Truck Shop is who gave me that tip.
