wiper motor

Hi can anyone tell me what the cable that is hooked up to my wiper motor on my 57 is ? Motor is electric has one power wire coming from it, but also this cable style like a choke cable. I am thinking it is a speed controll as it moves a plate on the side. have not seen it work yet so I am just guessing. Any thoughts? Thanks

The cable is for turning your wiper motor on and off . It also controls the high and low speed on your wipers.

follow up

Thanks for the info, can you tell how it actually works? The way it was hooked up looked like thet rigged it up by using a floor dimmer switch like for the headlights . Power wire came down plugged into connection and the other side ran into fuse box. This why it had me confused what the cable was for.Was this O.E. type motor for this year? Thanks for your help.

The cable should go to a knob on the dash to turn the wipers on and off and the wire goes to a 12 volt power source.
