48 door to a 54 latch

I have tried the search function, but when I ask this question even different ways it pops up any thread with "door" or "latch" in it, and that is just too many files to dig through. Even going to a single thread and asking the same question gets similar results within the thread. I've been looking for over 2 hours with no joy.

So has anyone converted a 48 single window door to use a 54 latch?

I know I've read a thread where the latching mechanism on the cab had to be modified to work.

But what about the door? The 54 door has a back up plate inside the door for the outside handle to bolt to. Of course the 48 door doesn't have that plate. So has anyone converted a door? If so, what did you do?

Different handles completely. Most guys who want push button handles use door and all and convert the door to one piece glass.
