Re: flipping bed over

I’ve always stood them on the fixed end and then laid them down. I do this in the yard usually. With help...

Just did this with a box a couple weeks back and it worked good. Get a few other helpers and do it on a soft surface if you can. The lawn works good.

Re: flipping bed over

I rolled a 33 Ford roadster glass body over to paint the underside. I went to the mattress store and they let me have two old trade ins from their pile. I laid them on the garage floor next to the body and rolled it over onto the mattresses. When I was done I took the mattresses back to the store and gave them back. Worked great.

It definitely makes the job easier. A good one is fairly spendy. Even building your own doesn't come cheap. It's a lot more work than I would have thought to build too.

Re: flipping bed over

Lots of guys make them. This one is my own. When I say it's a lot more work I mean it took ME a lot more time than I figured it would take. I designed it in Inventor as I do that stuff for a living. You only need to google rotisseries. There are Zillions of them out there. One made with this thick of steel with foam filled off road wheels, air over hydraulic jacks and so on will run you in the 2-3 grand range if you are buying. I have over 600 just in steel. Jacks another 300. Canadian $ though. Casters I salvaged. Just nuts and bolts probably cost about a hundred bucks. Nothing is cheap anymore and I get OE prices on everything.

Re: flipping bed over

I built 2ea sets a few years ago based off some internet prints. Bought everything new and upgraded the jack and wheels . Took pieces over to the powder coaters and had them painted toolbox red. Turned out better than expected. Built 2 sets for less than the price of one good one shipped . I still had over 2k in both sets.
