1967 Truck paint code help?

I have a 1967 C10 2WD truck that is light green in color. The code I have seen listed online 4 my truck is 43523. My SPID tag says 4533AD for paint code and 4611AA(Green Trim Vinyl Trim. I'm now wondering if my truck was light green from the factory?

Thats the paint code i have been seeing online and it has me confused about the original color of my truck now. I am guessing my truck was never light green from the factory?

Is your glovebox door original? That could have been changed.

Re: 1967 Truck paint code help?

Yes it is original to my truck. It has my vin number on it with the few options the truck came with also. I am thinking about going to o'reilly and ask them to look up the paint code on my truck and maybe they can tell me what color it is. I called GM two days ago and I am now anxiously awaiting my restoration package!!! I hope it will give me some idea of paint codes for 67 trucks.

Re: 1967 Truck paint code help?

Depends on who supplied the paint. GM RPO code for 67 light green is 503. The 43523 is a Ditzler paint code which is same as Rinshed Mason Code A-1844 and Du-Pont paint code 4728-L.
Even the Ditzler paint sheet above pictured identifies to turn over to other side for two tone options.

Looking at the spid tells you that it's light green two tone paint job, the change in the number from 503 to 533 identifys that the truck came in a two tone package..the other color being white. So RPO code 533 is for two tone while 503 is solid color. Still the same light green as primary color. Rod

Re: 1967 Truck paint code help?

Started my first recon on my new 67 C10. My Spid has 04500AA as the paint code. Anyone know exactly what that number breaks down to be? I see the 500 as being black but have no clue what the 04 or AA means. Maybe i'm way off. There is no chance of a build sheet under the seat. It has a different year seat in it. Sorry for digging up an old thread but figured it fit this thread a little. Thanks

Re: 1967 Truck paint code help?

You are on the right track. The color code is 500 Black. Don't worry about the prefix or suffix codes in this case.

Re: 1967 Truck paint code help?

You are on the right track, 500 Black is the original solid color. The prefix and suffix won't make a difference in this case.

Re: 1967 Truck paint code help?

Help! I have a 1967 C-10 2WD pickup with a paint code listed on the option sheet found on the inside glove compartment door as: 4521 AB. I am wanting to repaint the truck to the original colors. When I bought it in 1980 it was white all over with a light or medium blue inside the cab, also on the door jams.

Is the color for the truck White (all over?). I have not found the exact color code as is on the sticker, but the 521 is White in some charts, not sure if the 4 is a prefix. All the other listed option codes lead with the 4 as the first number. I assume the truck was originally painted as white all over and not a two tone.

Thanks for the input!

Re: 1967 Truck paint code help?

Welcome to the board!
If you read my earlier post here it states that the leading 4 and the AB suffix are to be ignored for your purposes. So 4 521 AB is the only part you need to worry about and that code is a solid paint bright white.
When you state the interior is blue painted it leads me to ask what your trim code is. My bet is the truck had a blue interior. In 67 the interior paint color was not the same as the exterior but was color coded to the trim. So a blue trim truck truck would have a medium blue interior and a dark flat blue dash forward of the pad. On a white truck it makes a nice contrast. Post up a picture of the truck here and the SPID too.

Re: 1967 Truck paint code help?

Tim,
Thanks! I read your previous post about "paint codes" and was looking for confirmation on it. Now the blue interior paint.... not sure if it is light or medium blue. On the SPID (?) or Options code sheet in glove compartment, there is: Option Code- 4604AH Blue Cloth Trim. Any ideas on how to determine which blue to choose?
Regards, John

Re: 1967 Truck paint code help?

John,
SPID is the service parts identification label listing the options on the inside of the glovebox door.

"Any ideas on how to determine which blue to choose?"
Your kidding right? :-)

Note the interior paint colors are not the same as the exterior colors in 67, so the exterior chart I posted for the 521 white will not show an interior blue.

Here is a clip from the 67 brochure showing a blue Custom interior. You do have "Custom" door emblems?

Also here is a paint code chart showing the Ditzler/PPG codes at the time.

Now TCP Global says they can make up any color to order but that has proven to be incorrect. In the past they have cancelled orders because they do not have a complete set of interior color standards to match to. So if they cannot match the medium blue interior metallic to code or the flat dark blue upper dash color you may want to have that done locally. Generally under the dash pad you can get good original colors to match to.

argent 8568
medium blue poly 13391
dark blue poly 13398 (flat)

Re: 1967 Truck paint code help?

tim your right about tcp global i ordered my interior paint from them. i waited a week with no reply from them.
when i finally called they told me that they didnt have the codes/formula for the green 67 interior.
they actually told me they were sending "juan" out too get a sample that they could color match too mix the paint and it would take a lil' longer than a normal order.

the paint they sent looks dang close its a lil' darker but i'm sure my interior is faded making it look lighter.it'll work for me though....i wandered what part "juan" brought back

i would order from them again they really seemed to want too help.

it took a while but i have all the right colors for my truck thanks too tim's help

Re: 1967 Truck paint code help?

Thanks, I was contacted about trying to find a 72 saddle column paint they couldn't match. Since that was like the third hit I called them. It took half an hour but they finally admitted they couldn't match everything to code but in fact needed standards to match to in some cases to effect a proper color interchange. However they did advise me they can color match any sample. So if you see a truck being scrapped out, might think about grabbing a good sample from it. Never know who you might help.

Re: 1967 Truck paint code help?

Hi Tim- hoping for some help as well. I also have a '67 C10 and am trying to find the right interior color. My exterior code is 4503AA, which I know is 503, and I have gotten paint to match that successfully. My interior code is 4603GD Green Cloth Trim (with Custom interior). When I look at the charts I have difficulty figuring out which color I need. I believe it is Medium Green Poly. I am wanting to match the paint that is on the kick panels near the vents. I get confused because of the notations. Can you help please?

Re: 1967 Truck paint code help?

You are one right track. Med Green Poly 43687 is the correct interior color code and 43693 Dark Green is correct for the upper dash forward of the pad it is a flat or "0" (zero) Gloss paint. The notes are pretty straight forward: (1) is the glove box door, in 67 they were all argent inside and out. (2) is the interior sheetmetal from weatherstrip to weatherstrip. (3) is again the forward upper dash the split is about the radius under the dash pad where the slots are. It is an anti-glare measure. If you look around you find trucks that have gloss paint there and it reflects stongly onto the windshield.
