Ain't got it mounted yet...it will be mounted with 4 carriage bolts that bolt through the floor of the tool box and through the step. That'll be plenty strong to hold the box on the step.

Yeah, but I can't paint that good. Hell, my touch up paint is greygreen on my blue truck! Fellas at the shop putting in the motor and t5 had a hoot on that one....told em its a workin truck not a knuckle dragger or a trailer queen!

Re: toolboxes or other storage containers in your trucks

I thought I'd posted this here back when I installed this, but apparently I forgot.

Craftsman tool box, $5 at the flea market. Its big enough for the quart of oil & couple of ratchet straps I needed a place for. I drilled holes & installed nutserts from the bottom of the bed, with wing bolts through the bottom of the box, so it stays in place, but can be removed if I am filling the bed with dirt or gravel.

Re: toolboxes or other storage containers in your trucks

I know....but i try to avoid Fayetteville cept for goin to / from work. Dangerous town in my opinion. Pretty much got the Wife and Kids convinced ain't no reason to go there and do all shoping elsewhere. Wife had a pretty significanant run in or two and we pretty much decided it was an off limits town. Hellsbells I can't even get outta a car in the mall lot for good pipe tobacco afore half handfull of weaselbums are rushin me for quarters to purchase fanbelts cause they been stuck in the parking lot campin for a week now. Same at several gas stations. Big town but we prefer to avoid the potential for unsavory happenings.

Re: toolboxes or other storage containers in your trucks

That is the M19....5.56 and 7.62 as well as a variety of pistol and shotgun ammo. 50 cal can is bout twice as wide and comes in a low (very old 50s style) or taller (more common/same height as the M19 can)

Thanks, I was thinking it looked skinny compared to what I'm used to seeing.

Not mine, but I like the idea of boxes on the side to keep the full depth of the bed.

Re: toolboxes or other storage containers in your trucks

I took a wood shop class at City College. I really took the class because they had all the tools I needed to make this box. I started with rough wood so I needed the planers and stuff. While I was making it one of the students asked me if I was a Master Carpenter.. I have been doing it for along time but didn't think I was a master.
Right now I have my spare tire in the box and it really comes in handy when I go shopping. I am probably gong to turn it into a coffee table. It way to big for the truck bed and won't work with what I want to do to my bed.
The box is made out of White Oak and the inlay is African Mahogany
