Re: spring sprung early

They used too have a rattle snake round up here.
3mi. Behind town is the blue mountain at the top is where the Appalachian trail passes through.
They would start out up there and spread out all the way out too Schuberts gap. I haven't heard of the round up happening for a few years now. Must've been a ole'timers thing.
I've goofed around up on the mountain practically my whole life and came across alot of other snakes but never a rattler.

Back in 6th grade a kid I went too school with caught a rattler up in the gap.
He brought it home and kept it as a pet.
His pops opened a cycle shop a lil' bit later on the property and named it rattlers cycles. A while ago The old man had a stroke and slowly the shop closed up.
Now the kid is running a gun shop out of the building.
I stopped in last year too check out the gun shop.
"Holey crap troy you still have the snake".
"Yhea that thing is at least 30 sum yrs old."

I was pretty amazed he still had it. Last time I saw that snake I was 12 yrs old. And what's really weird was that it wasn't much bigger than it was back when I was 12.
He said it's all in how you feed them.

So that one in the pic above was eating quite well.

I had a few pet snakes but they got boring, except that damn black snake he was a mean ornery soab.
i shoulda got a stick for that one

I guess sticks and dead critters go hand in hand. Every deer I bring home my boy allways pokes the eyes with a....stick.
