More Dana 60 axle carnage:

Its official, I have now broken all four shafts in a Dana 60. The passenger stub shaft 4 times, passenger inner shaft once, the drivers stub shaft twice and the drivers inner shaft once. Last time out I broke one Warn premium hub and BOTH stub shafts. The pictures are of the drivers side and yes all those little pieces are chucks of axle. Most breakage has been stock axles but I also broke a Yukon big spine stub shaft last year.

That is impressive. My buddy has blown up a Dana 60, 70, and 80, but that's with a Cummins, not a gas engine.

What engine/trans/xfer case/gears are you running?

RPM Offroad Warn Drive gear upgrade. Problem solved.

Are your Yukon shafts Chromoly? 30 spline? 35 spline?

Chromoly 35 spline......at least it was. Truthfully the breakage there was on the ear by the u-joint.

Nothing special, Burt knows....its weight + heavy throttle + precarious terrain + boredom......

Re: More Dana 60 axle carnage:

I knew I was going to do some damage. I basically had the truck hanging on a shelf with all weight on the front and the rear dug into the soft side hill. There was so much pull on the front that the steering pegged all the way to the right and it would'nt steer at all. Just another day....
