Fuel cell in bed

Hi guys, just got a fuel cell to put in the bed. It came with no sending unit. Im sure someone has done this so... its a 15 gal alum cell, which sending unit? I see them for 90 ohms, is this the one?? Also how do I figure out the proper one to get so it will read right inside for the float?? I bought the cell used so I need the help. Truck is still in paint so I have time to get all the goodies together. Thanks, Mike

No one has moved the tank to the bed in a fuel cell? Hello.. is there anybody out there???

do not have specific answer but, search here for threads on gas tank/fuel gauge for info on stock gauge ohms. hopefully you will be running a cover for bed of truck - think about heat from Sun light on tank and fuel expanding.

I got a 12 gal fuel cell in the bed of mine but no sending unit..i filled it up and then ran it out of gas and wrote down my mileage..now my odometer is my gas gauge lol..but i think the 90 ohms one are for gm applications..Your have to take depth measurements of your fuel cell to get the right float height for a accurate gauge.

Ahhhh cool, thats good info guys, Didnt think of heat. Cant be much worse than it running down the side of my paint.

I have a 15 gal marine cell under my toolbox. It has a sending unit and runs
to a gauge I installed in the empty slot by the steering column. I used an
electric transfer switch, (heaven forbid--ford), and a toggle I installed on the
dash where a choke cable used to be. The filler is inside the bed on the corner
of the tank. I vented the tank with a hose that runs up to the rail. I have had
no problems with it. It has been in the truck for about 10 years.

Zero-to-90 ohms is correct. Should your cell's internals, such as baffle-placement, be a concern that it may block a float's swing, then this "floatless" sending unit may be considered: Look for "Floatless Senders Ease Moving Fuel Tanks" in the 60-66 section.
