GM aluminum intake weld EGR or block it

I have a GM aluminum intake I pulled from my '76 Vette and I was going to put it on a C10 I recently picked up. I want to delete the EGR and the hot air choke outlets but is welding a good option or should I use block off plates? I don't care about keeping it stock and my uncle can weld it for me for a few beers. I just wasn't sure if there were any drawbacks to welding them up.

I would just use a block off plate if it were me. I'm definitely not saying your uncle can't do it, but old, dirty, porous cast aluminum isn't the most fun thing to weld.

That's what I figured, I was trying to make it look a little better but I will just get some plates and paint them to blend into the manifold.

If you don't want to make one--many after market ones.
