Why a manual throttle in a 72 Blazer?

What's the use(s) for a manual throttle on a Blazer? PTO winch?

Probably for PTO.

Re: Why a manual throttle in a 72 Blazer?

Manual throttles have been in Chevy trucks since the beginning. My '70 blazer has one, its on the spid, but has no pto. My 1942 dump also has it too, You have to remember back then you didn't just start it and walk away from the truck till it warmed up. Many of the old owners manuals from the early days used it as part of the starting process.

I used mine as a "poor man's cruise control".

It worked pretty well as long as you were covering relatively flat terrain.

I use mine to turn up the RPMs to get more amperage out of the alternator while I'm using my winch.
