LQ4 Donor - Live in California

Putting in LQ4/4L80E in a 55' for a daily driver. Would you suggest getting a donor motor from outside California so that it is not complicated with the additional smog equipment?

They're all the same. If you're building a '55 I wouldn't think you'd have to bother with emission, so you could just delete that stuff.

I have heard. That in cali, you have to follow the emissions of the newest, body/motor. Do yourself a favor and call the DMV gestapo and find out for sure.

I’m in Cali and pre 1975 years are smog exempt. I deleted all the smog crap from my swap. Not even running cats. You are good to go!!
