Question Steering column technical help

So I am dismantleing my steering column and I got it all apart except the long tube from the part just below the wheel that houses the blinker switch etc. It kinda spins back and forth on top of the tube. Anyways this is a 4spd column so I thought it would be easy, but I don't know how to get this final section apart, I took out the plasic blinker stuff, but still nothing.......am I making sense here? Any help would be appreciated.

I have the piece you are refering to here for if I ever get to go to a floor shifter. When I removed it from the junk yard truck, it just slid off. I just pulled on it and i smacked me in the face. (no joke...i blooied my d@mn nose.)

Hmmm maybe I just need to apply a little brute force (god I hate to do that, something always goes wrong). I'll never know if I don't try.....
