crazy color combo

Saw a 72 pulling into a parking lot, so I stopped and talked to the old man. He's the original owner, and bought it here in NC. White and red two tone, but inside the cab was orange. He assured me that's the way he bought it brand new. So i asked if i could take a pic, he said " you ain't putting my truck on the intraweb". That led me to believe there was no point in asking if it was for sale....lol

Re: crazy color combo

Don't believe that could have been possible oem, interior paint would be main body color post-67 I believe. Buyer could get special paint codes, but not change basic assembly line painting procedures like when and how the interior was painted.

Re: crazy color combo

I woulda thought the same, that basically woulda changed the whole assembly process, but he swore up and down that's how he bought it, and made sure to tell me a few times he's the original owner

Re: crazy color combo

Special paint would have allowed a lot of things at a price but it is very unlikely that a red truck was built with orange paint inside. If I were to guess I would say it was originally a orange truck repainted red. People will give you so much BS its not funny. Meet a couple of "original owners" obviously younger than their trucks. When pressed one admitted it was his family's so that made him the "original owner" of a truck built well before he was born. Another more creative guy just failed to mention that he was actually a Jr. as the "original title" (one owner) had his name on it.

Re: crazy color combo

It was painted orange inside, or just the upholstery was orange? I know gmc's had some questionable color combos with body color and interior, but I would think the body color would match inside and out.

Painted, dash, door pillars, roof...I'm gonna guess it was repainted, just don't have any idea why the old man would lie about it...who knows, takes all types I guess
