Re: Manifold Vacuum

Just for fun. My motor runs an aggressive solid cam grind that is 240/244 duration @50 in a 406. My idle vacuum is around 11 or 12 hot at 750 RPM. Engine vacuum at cruise is around 16-18 and shifting gears it shoots up to 23-24"s.

Re: Manifold Vacuum

I bought the only fuel pressure regulator I could find in town. I am going to have order a good one. This one is supposed to adjust from 1 - 5.5psi. I have it set at 5.5, and I'm only showing 4psi on the gauge. I set the idle at 500 and set the idle screws. I got my vacuum up to 14.

Re: Manifold Vacuum

Also, idle should be more like 700-750 in neutral.

Re: Manifold Vacuum

Nothing wrong with 4psi. Test it for awhile and see how it runs.
I had a dual quad 350 once that wouldn't run with more than 3.5 psi. It was a pair of 500 cfm carter afb's.

Re: Manifold Vacuum

When testing manifold vacuum, does the auto trans need to be in drive or park?
