What the heck are these for??

Don't know if these springs were a backyard fix or if they actually served a purpose, maybe steering assist? Any input would be appreciated.

Cheers,

I believe that's an old JC Whitney item, I used to read that catalog a lot when I was a kid, I think it was for front end shimmy correction.

No, these are not necessary, they were an aftermarket item years ago.

Wow. The things people will buy and put on a vehicle...

Off topic and I apologize, but I remember my grandpa and my dad both had auxiliary oil filters on their trucks that used a roll of toilet paper....

End of thread-jack

I've heard of that, but the story usually includes "Big Oil" buying it up and squashing it because the engine would run for 500,000 miles with it :-)

Re: What the heck are these for??

Haha my motorhome had those, took them off didn't change the steering and they were common for power steering pump failure.

Re: What the heck are these for??

Used for longer tire life as you could run less tow in.. and it not wander..
Big deal when you have a fleet and can get 50k out of tires and not 25k
